This Silver Dollar Nationals event T-shirt is directly connected to a 1st Place award plaque preserved within the Lititz BMX Archive, helping reunite memorabilia from the same race. The plaque was originally discovered within the Leary Locker collection, a group of artifacts recovered from one of Harry Leary’s personal storage lockers.
More than a year after the plaque was documented, Linda Leary Taylor located the corresponding event shirt and sent it to the archive, allowing the two pieces of memorabilia to be reunited. Artifacts such as this demonstrate how race apparel and awards often become separated over time as riders move, collections change hands, and items are stored in different locations.
By preserving both the award and the event shirt together, the archive helps restore the historical context of the race itself. Items like this illustrate how BMX memorabilia can work together to tell a more complete story about individual race achievements and the broader history of the sport.
