Vin Rock, born Vincent Brown and best known as a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning hip-hop group Naughty by Nature, grew up in East Orange, New Jersey, during a period when bicycles were a central part of youth culture throughout the Northeast. Long before achieving international success through music, he spent his childhood navigating neighborhood streets on two wheels, participating in the same urban riding culture that connected generations of young riders across New Jersey and nearby New York City. For many kids of the era, bicycles represented freedom, independence, and community-values that would later become recurring themes throughout Vin Rock’s life and career.
