Known as one of the smoothest and most resilient BMX racers of his generation, Tory Nyhaug became one of the leading figures in modern Canadian BMX racing. Born in New Westminster, British Columbia in 1992, Nyhaug rose through the international ranks with an ultra-smooth, technically refined riding style and an exceptional ability to generate speed through difficult rhythm sections.
Competing on the world stage, Nyhaug represented Canada at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympic Games, notably advancing to the Olympic final in Rio. His career became widely respected for its resilience and perseverance, as he repeatedly returned to elite-level competition despite suffering major injuries, including a ruptured spleen and multiple fractures. Among his many accomplishments was a gold medal performance at the 2015 Pan American Games.
Riding for factory teams including Redline and Prophecy, Nyhaug helped elevate the visibility of Canadian BMX racing throughout the 2010s. Following his competitive career, he transitioned into broadcasting and commentary, sharing his technical knowledge and race insight with a new generation of BMX fans.
