A pump track is a small, looping circuit of rollers, banked turns, and smooth mounds designed so riders can maintain speed without pedaling. Instead of pushing the pedals, you generate momentum by shifting your body weight—“pumping”—as you move through the rises and dips.

You’ll see pump tracks used by people on bikes, skateboards, scooters, and even rollerblades. They’re usually made of dirt, asphalt, or a mix of both, and the layout is meant to feel playful and rhythmic. Because the features are low and flowy rather than steep or technical, pump tracks work for a wide range of ages and skill levels.
