wasn't allowed to race but uh I rode pretty heavily in the Bay Area and I
pretty heavily in the Bay Area and I grew up uh you know boss BM they were
grew up uh you know boss BM they were huge where I was from and so I was a big
huge where I was from and so I was a big fan I used to uh ride with their team
fan I used to uh ride with their team members a lot uh in this little town
members a lot uh in this little town called Livermore and the Creek
called Livermore and the Creek Trails uh but that was that was kind of
Trails uh but that was that was kind of that was kind of it I've all I've never
that was kind of it I've all I've never gotten rid of um I've always had a BMX
gotten rid of um I've always had a BMX bike and I just I grew up riding with
bike and I just I grew up riding with friends and finding you know Creek
friends and finding you know Creek Trails and just mocking around loving
Trails and just mocking around loving loving bucks and mocking around with
loving bucks and mocking around with buck and yeah yeah exactly just some
buck and yeah yeah exactly just some just some kid just some kid that that
just some kid just some kid that that you know never lost the love and about
you know never lost the love and about 10 years ago uh I got back into it with
10 years ago uh I got back into it with collecting um and I started my first
collecting um and I started my first rebuild and I was kind of hooked and
rebuild and I was kind of hooked and back into it ever since and so it's just
back into it ever since and so it's just kind of flourished since then and I've
kind of flourished since then and I've had the opportunity to meet some
had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people I've taken some chances
wonderful people I've taken some chances I've had some losses and uh but I've had
I've had some losses and uh but I've had a great time and and and you're right
a great time and and and you're right the group itself right now is small but
the group itself right now is small but I'm hoping it's going to grow we are not
I'm hoping it's going to grow we are not even a week old yet uh and and in
even a week old yet uh and and in reality who am I right I'm I'm just some
reality who am I right I'm I'm just some some guy that is you know posting
some guy that is you know posting pictures and trying to get something
pictures and trying to get something going it's um it it it's really cool to
going it's um it it it's really cool to see who's jumped in and how they are
see who's jumped in and how they are jumping in with their stories because um
jumping in with their stories because um as far as my background I am a retired
as far as my background I am a retired in instructional designer um okay I've
in instructional designer um okay I've had I kind of had three careers I was in
had I kind of had three careers I was in the military for well active duty US
the military for well active duty US Navy 8 years I supported them for 3
Navy 8 years I supported them for 3 years after that as a civilian uh moved
years after that as a civilian uh moved to Silicon Valley got into Tech um and
to Silicon Valley got into Tech um and then moved back here to
then moved back here to Pennsylvania and uh my my father-in-law
Pennsylvania and uh my my father-in-law needed help so my wife and I decided to
needed help so my wife and I decided to come back um and I got back into
come back um and I got back into instructional design and uh I I got to a
instructional design and uh I I got to a point where I said you know what I don't
point where I said you know what I don't need to work anymore um and so I'm done
need to work anymore um and so I'm done and so for the last couple well for the
and so for the last couple well for the last year I've been raising my daughter
last year I've been raising my daughter full-time that's that's a good that's
full-time that's that's a good that's the best job at love it um and it gives
the best job at love it um and it gives me an opportunity I'm kind of I have a
me an opportunity I'm kind of I have a five-year plan because I want her to go
five-year plan because I want her to go to uh a private school I would like to
to uh a private school I would like to be able to pay for a private school out
be able to pay for a private school out here uh and it was to just build a
here uh and it was to just build a museum um and I kind of don't I'm not
museum um and I kind of don't I'm not sure exactly where that's going but what
sure exactly where that's going but what I am envisioning right now is uh a small
I am envisioning right now is uh a small mobile Museum to start like in a 17t
mobile Museum to start like in a 17t trailer uh that it would literally it
trailer uh that it would literally it it's it would be interactive so
it's it would be interactive so thankfully I'd be able to use my
thankfully I'd be able to use my understanding of instructional design to
understanding of instructional design to create interactive uh elements and what
create interactive uh elements and what I'm thinking is like you walk up and
I'm thinking is like you walk up and there is the first BMX action which I I
there is the first BMX action which I I do uh and you click a QR code and
do uh and you click a QR code and there's the magazine I know Harry's
there's the magazine I know Harry's Harry had that one still in his uh
Harry had that one still in his uh collection when he showed me when I was
collection when he showed me when I was over there oh yeah no I I've only seen
over there oh yeah no I I've only seen one of his magazines so far um and I
one of his magazines so far um and I I'll post it up uh but that's I think it

poster uh is is the magazine that that I found um so but it's been it's been a
found um so but it's been it's been a great it's been a great ride um and and
great it's been a great ride um and and people ask how did you find it right so

uh I'm a oh I do own two Diamondbacks by the way my bike growing up was a
the way my bike growing up was a Diamondback Viper so uh it was a it was
Diamondback Viper so uh it was a it was a black 90 I think it was Vier I
a black 90 I think it was Vier I actually I have a I have I have it with
actually I have a I have I have it with a mini Viper for my daughter for when
a mini Viper for my daughter for when she's ready to ride so we can both right
she's ready to ride so we can both right on that I so you got like a little
on that I so you got like a little original pit bike I mean they're they're
original pit bike I mean they're they're clean uh as clean as you know you can be
clean uh as clean as you know you can be I'm not you know there's I'm I enjoy the
I'm not you know there's I'm I enjoy the fact that I'm able to look at them and
fact that I'm able to look at them and reminded myself of Junior hot yeah
reminded myself of Junior hot yeah that's where it takes you back that's
that's where it takes you back that's what all this is about same thing yeah
what all this is about same thing yeah and people are like you have all these
and people are like you have all these fancy bikes and then you have these
fancy bikes and then you have these little crap Diamond bags you know and to
little crap Diamond bags you know and to me they're not right to me those are my
me they're not right to me those are my those those those are it for me and it
those those those are it for me and it it was kind of cool internally watching
it was kind of cool internally watching that fur circle come
that fur circle come back um so where is that LE is um I was
back um so where is that LE is um I was I'm looking at radical Rick stuff uh uh
I'm looking at radical Rick stuff uh uh and I came across this plaque and it was
and I came across this plaque and it was in Chula Vista uh I think it's 2017 if
in Chula Vista uh I think it's 2017 if I'm not mistaken and I lived in Chula
I'm not mistaken and I lived in Chula Vista so and I was in San Diego for a
Vista so and I was in San Diego for a decade uh so it's very near and dear to
decade uh so it's very near and dear to my heart so I bought it and I was going
my heart so I bought it and I was going to include it for my radical Rick
to include it for my radical Rick collection uh I happened to just ask the
collection uh I happened to just ask the the the reseller or the seller um what
the the reseller or the seller um what you know how did you get this and he
you know how did you get this and he said he basically said hey is this guy
said he basically said hey is this guy named Harry lirious and uh from there I
named Harry lirious and uh from there I I just I let my mind wander and think
I just I let my mind wander and think okay what are what what is what is he
okay what are what what is what is he posting right now that might not that
posting right now that might not that might not necessarily be what he thinks
might not necessarily be what he thinks it is or what we believe it is or what's
it is or what we believe it is or what's being advertised that um and I took a
being advertised that um and I took a gamble on a couple of things that I
gamble on a couple of things that I bought and uh just having faith and I've
bought and uh just having faith and I've been able to kind of parlay it into well
been able to kind of parlay it into well where we're at now um so that's kind of
where we're at now um so that's kind of that's kind of it and um I wanted to I
that's kind of it and um I wanted to I was I was oh
was I was oh sorry like I said I've been working on
sorry like I said I've been working on this Museum project and I thought this
this Museum project and I thought this would be a great not only way for me to
would be a great not only way for me to honor Harry but for me to honor the gift
honor Harry but for me to honor the gift that I've been given in a way that I
that I've been given in a way that I know how to give it as an instructional
know how to give it as an instructional designer um and bring the stories and
designer um and bring the stories and the history out and that's really my
the history out and that's really my goal and my um my objective here uh with
goal and my um my objective here uh with with this kind of aspect of things yep
with this kind of aspect of things yep well it's definitely a from what I can
well it's definitely a from what I can tell a different what you're doing
tell a different what you're doing is um taking the the fan base thing but
is um taking the the fan base thing but really getting down to the nitty-gritty
really getting down to the nitty-gritty of kind of what
of kind of what Harry Was His function you obviously
Harry Was His function you obviously know that
know that Harry was um a FY
Harry was um a FY character yep and he he's had his um
character yep and he he's had his um challenges with
challenges with life um divorces and
life um divorces and relationships so forth and um on the
relationships so forth and um on the track off the track mixing so you'll
track off the track mixing so you'll you'll be likely to find some darker
you'll be likely to find some darker stories from about Harry plenty of
stories from about Harry plenty of people don't like him a lot but I'm I'm
people don't like him a lot but I'm I'm I'm the sort of person here in Australia
I'm the sort of person here in Australia my dad brought me up
my dad brought me up you know you make mistakes you forgive
you know you make mistakes you forgive you build on that
you build on that character and you move forward sort of
character and you move forward sort of thing um take
thing um take responsibility and you bet yourself and
responsibility and you bet yourself and I think that's what Harry was doing in
I think that's what Harry was doing in the last couple of years really working
the last couple of years really working on
on that um so that was I'm glad he was and
that um so that was I'm glad he was and it was
it was showing and I think he would have
showing and I think he would have definitely become more and done a lot
definitely become more and done a lot more he was given back back a little bit
more he was given back back a little bit I think in the last 10 years or more
I think in the last 10 years or more working on it um I'll give you a quick
working on it um I'll give you a quick rundown how I met him yeah uh I was
rundown how I met him yeah uh I was standing in maete here one day probably
standing in maete here one day probably working on a bike here on the a diamond
working on a bike here on the a diamond back um I built a
back um I built a replica 85 turbo that never got went
replica 85 turbo that never got went into production and I'd not long
into production and I'd not long finished
finished it um and I must have posted on one of
it um and I must have posted on one of the BMX
the BMX pages and Patty his then
pages and Patty his then girlfriend um out of the blue said nice
girlfriend um out of the blue said nice bik um and then sent me a picture of a
bik um and then sent me a picture of a screen with Harry with his phone are in
screen with Harry with his phone are in the car and he's got the picture of my
the car and he's got the picture of my bike on his phone and he's giving me the
bike on his phone and he's giving me the thumbs up wow out of the blue and I'm
thumbs up wow out of the blue and I'm like hey BL like that's Harry ly
like hey BL like that's Harry ly they're looking at
they're looking at myby um so I quickly got the
myby um so I quickly got the conversation going um to Patty the
conversation going um to Patty the snowball rolls from there on um I was
snowball rolls from there on um I was lucky to be in BMX enough that I was
lucky to be in BMX enough that I was going to all the BMX shows got to know a
going to all the BMX shows got to know a guy that ran a Big Show and shine here
guy that ran a Big Show and shine here in Victoria
in Victoria Australia couple hours away from me we'd
Australia couple hours away from me we'd go down to I'd traveled two hours to a
go down to I'd traveled two hours to a swap meate sell and buy and I said
swap meate sell and buy and I said Peter um you have a BMX show coming up
Peter um you have a BMX show coming up one of the big ones hurstbridge I said
one of the big ones hurstbridge I said what if I could maybe get Harry ly here
what if I could maybe get Harry ly here to do a visit and do a personal blah you
to do a visit and do a personal blah you know guest guest spot and he goes we've
know guest guest spot and he goes we've never done that and if you could I'd be
never done that and if you could I'd be right into it so I'm like okay
right into it so I'm like okay I've got the
I've got the connection so back and forth a bit
connection so back and forth a bit through paty he his then
through paty he his then girlfriend we uh we chat and she's like
girlfriend we uh we chat and she's like yeah har youd be up for that so I'm like
yeah har youd be up for that so I'm like right I'll I'll get it
right I'll I'll get it organized so we had to raise some money
organized so we had to raise some money obviously pay for their
obviously pay for their tickets um that was one condition second
tickets um that was one condition second condition he didn't want to stay at a
condition he didn't want to stay at a hotel he wanted to stay with somebody at
hotel he wanted to stay with somebody at their house
their house and obviously feel the Australian
and obviously feel the Australian atmosphere not just be stuck in the
atmosphere not just be stuck in the motel so I'm like and Peter said I'm
motel so I'm like and Peter said I'm lucky to have a big enough house the
lucky to have a big enough house the organizer of hurstbridge
organizer of hurstbridge boik and he goes I'll I'll put him and
boik and he goes I'll I'll put him and Patty up in the spare room for the the
Patty up in the spare room for the the duration two bit sorted nicely so I
duration two bit sorted nicely so I raised about $4,000
raised about $4,000 thereabout um through sponsorship
thereabout um through sponsorship organizing the dinner invite only 200
organizing the dinner invite only 200 bucks a ticket and so
bucks a ticket and so forth Peter helped so yeah got it all
forth Peter helped so yeah got it all rolling the day that Harry was due to
rolling the day that Harry was due to next day had a bit of an argument with
next day had a bit of an argument with Patty nearly nearly canceled the
Patty nearly nearly canceled the show and tickets were booked um dinner
show and tickets were booked um dinner was booked everything
was booked everything organized promo work was all sent out
organized promo work was all sent out with Harry Larry t-shirts coming to
with Harry Larry t-shirts coming to hurstbridge
we get we get through it they're on the plane they're coming
plane they're coming over so me Peter and another guy we went
over so me Peter and another guy we went to the Melbourne Airport picked them
to the Melbourne Airport picked them both
both up um first greetings at the
up um first greetings at the international
international Park um it was
Park um it was surreal that we' got them over
surreal that we' got them over here um back to Peter's house Harry
here um back to Peter's house Harry comes out with all the gifts you know
comes out with all the gifts you know and we share I'm a collector a fan you
and we share I'm a collector a fan you know I don't know much about the history
know I don't know much about the history of his past but I was learning through
of his past but I was learning through collecting um we could go on for this
collecting um we could go on for this forever so we won't but I'll fill in
forever so we won't but I'll fill in more details as we
more details as we chat yeah um just just bonded with Harry
chat yeah um just just bonded with Harry he was he was willing to give and that's
he was he was willing to give and that's what I found was the part of him that I
what I found was the part of him that I resonated with he was happy to sign
resonated with he was happy to sign anything he was happy to answer any
anything he was happy to answer any questions whatever he was I think I lit
questions whatever he was I think I lit a fire under him
a fire under him somehow a little bit that he was so
somehow a little bit that he was so appreciated that people wanted to do
appreciated that people wanted to do that for him to get him over here I
that for him to get him over here I think he'd only been to Australia once
think he'd only been to Australia once in his BMX career racing and it was
in his BMX career racing and it was probably very short you know come over
probably very short you know come over for a race have a day off go back or on
for a race have a day off go back or on to the next country or something
so I'll fill you in on what we got up to there's plenty to tell
there's plenty to tell so in return a couple years
so in return a couple years later Harry hit me up and goes Nate
later Harry hit me up and goes Nate would you like to come over to I'd like
would you like to come over to I'd like you to come over to America um I want to
you to come over to America um I want to return the favor I've just got into some
return the favor I've just got into some money my father has passed away I've got
money my father has passed away I've got his property
his property inheritance I said I can't really afford
inheritance I said I can't really afford the the the plane ticket right now um I
the the the plane ticket right now um I had a job that i' not long started it
had a job that i' not long started it was lucky was with family and they were
was lucky was with family and they were flexible spoke to Mom and Dad and
flexible spoke to Mom and Dad and they're like if you want to do it he
they're like if you want to do it he paid for half of my flight ticket like a
paid for half of my flight ticket like a th000 bucks
th000 bucks so over I go
so over I go to um havu was we he had a house at the
to um havu was we he had a house at the time um we fill her in but he Terry was
time um we fill her in but he Terry was just generous to me
just generous to me from a small time just Diamond Back
from a small time just Diamond Back collector I'm a builder by trade I was
collector I'm a builder by trade I was nowhere in anything of status but to do
nowhere in anything of status but to do that to me has just been the one thing
that to me has just been the one thing that was really heartfelt to take a
that was really heartfelt to take a simple Australian guy love for diamond
simple Australian guy love for diamond back and show me that world of all the
back and show me that world of all the just of all the the the guys riding
just of all the the the guys riding along riding along California beach
along riding along California beach behind them with all these biker guys
behind them with all these biker guys older fellas that raced so it sounds
older fellas that raced so it sounds like it was uh it sounds like it was
like it was uh it sounds like it was mutually uplifting between the two of
mutually uplifting between the two of you and I'm hearing that story a lot to
you and I'm hearing that story a lot to be honest with you like so that's really
be honest with you like so that's really cool to hear somebody see that to me
cool to hear somebody see that to me that's I've heard it come out like that
that's I've heard it come out like that we obious me and Harry obviously spent
we obious me and Harry obviously spent many times sitting around together any
many times sitting around together any question I thought of he didn't remember
question I thought of he didn't remember everything because such a big career I
everything because such a big career I suppose I I'd had in the works I'd done
suppose I I'd had in the works I'd done that replica
that replica 85 but i' designed up enough of a frame
85 but i' designed up enough of a frame to get that stick tail turbo would you
to get that stick tail turbo would you know about that in ' 85 they they were
know about that in ' 85 they they were dropping the loop tail of the turbo
dropping the loop tail of the turbo where the rear drop out you know the
where the rear drop out you know the loop prototyping a new turbo and it was
loop prototyping a new turbo and it was straight I've I've done more research
straight I've I've done more research into it over the years and found out it
into it over the years and found out it could be a cross
could be a cross Rider um frame that was modified because
Rider um frame that was modified because it was still Japanese welds and anyway
it was still Japanese welds and anyway Harry took me to GT Factory to meet the
Harry took me to GT Factory to meet the GT guys Gary Turner and took me into
GT guys Gary Turner and took me into that workshop and GT bikes hanging off
that workshop and GT bikes hanging off the ceiling and all that stuff and I'm
the ceiling and all that stuff and I'm like butterflies flying out me bum all
like butterflies flying out me bum all the GT trophies in their cabinet Harry
the GT trophies in their cabinet Harry just walks in good day mate oh you know
just walks in good day mate oh you know how you doing yeah like Harry yeah
how you doing yeah like Harry yeah whatever oh my
whatever oh my goodness love it
goodness love it ah well I think they knew each other for
ah well I think they knew each other for probably about 40 years if I'm guessing
probably about 40 years if I'm guessing right on that one absolutely they
right on that one absolutely they because Harry was in his um he was
because Harry was in his um he was development at some point that was his
development at some point that was his main thing to redevelop the next
main thing to redevelop the next transition of bikes this was 85 when the
transition of bikes this was 85 when the freestyle was just coming in to be more
freestyle was just coming in to be more popular and it kind of kind of pushed
popular and it kind of kind of pushed down the racing a bit so I think that's
down the racing a bit so I think that's why they didn't go with it because it
why they didn't go with it because it maybe costs and when freestyle come in
maybe costs and when freestyle come in so um obviously freestyle I've got all
so um obviously freestyle I've got all the freestyle bikes out in the shed with
the freestyle bikes out in the shed with Mike Dominguez Woody hson so there's a
Mike Dominguez Woody hson so there's a lot of stories I didn't know but yeah if
lot of stories I didn't know but yeah if any questions you want to ask me jump in
any questions you want to ask me jump in yeah I um appreciate that you you've
yeah I um appreciate that you you've offered continuing support in this so

always will devastated when I heard the news about Harry cuz we hadn't we hadn't
news about Harry cuz we hadn't we hadn't really spoken in probably the last 12
really spoken in probably the last 12 months via messages or anything but
months via messages or anything but that's just how Harry was um we were I
that's just how Harry was um we were I knew enough
knew enough that we would still talk again we just
that we would still talk again we just had the flow at the right
had the flow at the right time um so I kind of drifted off with
time um so I kind of drifted off with what Harry but I still kept an eye on
what Harry but I still kept an eye on what he would do with now speaking about
what he would do with now speaking about God and bringing that into his tracks
God and bringing that into his tracks and so forth just bringing the god
and so forth just bringing the god aspect yeah into his into the BMX scene
aspect yeah into his into the BMX scene working on himself and also I think
working on himself and also I think trying to give back finding his
trying to give back finding his peace after after years of probably
peace after after years of probably being scary Leery and the I think the
being scary Leery and the I think the elbow thing that he did on the track
elbow thing that he did on the track started it getting the backlash um the
started it getting the backlash um the old times were kind of lost but he he
old times were kind of lost but he he was still an Oldtimer that's how you
was still an Oldtimer that's how you raced elbows out
raced elbows out and hey I've gone through a crossing the
and hey I've gone through a crossing the line ceremony iy OG is cool with me um
line ceremony iy OG is cool with me um you know
you know and yeah me too I'm 50 years old so you
and yeah me too I'm 50 years old so you know I'm a I'm old school to me that's
know I'm a I'm old school to me that's the he's done a lot of good outside of
the he's done a lot of good outside of small mistakes I mean personally I've
small mistakes I mean personally I've got six years of recovery under my belat
got six years of recovery under my belat and um so I
and um so I understand Redemption I understand
understand Redemption I understand salvation and I understand and I'm
salvation and I understand and I'm appreciative of what I've been giv
appreciative of what I've been giv that's in addition to that that's
that's in addition to that that's uplifting and it seems like he had that
uplifting and it seems like he had that same thing especially from what I'm
same thing especially from what I'm running through CSI uh the Min the
running through CSI uh the Min the Ministries um like I just saw a post he
Ministries um like I just saw a post he was so proactive he was looking for a
was so proactive he was looking for a service I think at GRS that hadn't been
service I think at GRS that hadn't been posted yet and he's like hey I don't see
posted yet and he's like hey I don't see anything but I'll be proactive in in in
anything but I'll be proactive in in in spreading my
spreading my testimony at that event so I think um I
testimony at that event so I think um I think that's great we all We All Fall we
think that's great we all We All Fall we all make mistakes right and
all make mistakes right and um that's just a part of life and and I
um that's just a part of life and and I I think that people forget a lot people
I think that people forget a lot people forget a lot and I think sure the elbow
forget a lot and I think sure the elbow incident will be remembered it's it

other guys have but um I think him and Eddie's friendship come to a pretty much

Sheena um Sheena was probably about he said 8 years old um have the cage for
said 8 years old um have the cage for her in the lounge
her in the lounge room um he'd take out for the walks
room um he'd take out for the walks every night every
every night every evening and Sheena was he'd always talk
evening and Sheena was he'd always talk about her um lay down on the
about her um lay down on the floor I think that was obviously what
floor I think that was obviously what dogs give us Harry had that too you see
dogs give us Harry had that too you see some people that don't have a connection
some people that don't have a connection with dogs or
with dogs or animals um I don't know how they
animals um I don't know how they couldn't cuz I love mine and my my cat
couldn't cuz I love mine and my my cat everything dogs are animals are my
everything dogs are animals are my friends they're my best friends
friends they're my best friends when he took me to have a sue the house
when he took me to have a sue the house were at in his roll the garage door come
were at in his roll the garage door come up and Harry's got his gym equipment in
up and Harry's got his gym equipment in there and um an old tour trolley with
there and um an old tour trolley with stickers plastered all over it that he'd
stickers plastered all over it that he'd had from early teenager sort of thing
had from early teenager sort of thing and over on his shelf he had these
and over on his shelf he had these little boxes with there and he pointed
little boxes with there and he pointed out that he goes That's all my dogs that
out that he goes That's all my dogs that I've had throughout the years um mean he
I've had throughout the years um mean he probably had about five boxes of their
probably had about five boxes of their ashes
ashes and I'm digging back to the memory I'm

taking myself back to that moment of what we would have talked

about um I think basically what I gathered

he made the transition from the Russian wolf hounds because I I thought I found
wolf hounds because I I thought I found that to be curious on that so the

more I've just just yesterday I seen a comment from his
comment from his sister and um he's got a sister and a
sister and um he's got a sister and a daughter obviously that's his I think
daughter obviously that's his I think his only family that's
his only family that's left um I just reached out to her
left um I just reached out to her yesterday and hopefully she'll talk to
yesterday and hopefully she'll talk to me again or respond
me again or respond hopefully so I might get to find out a
hopefully so I might get to find out a little bit more from her which I'd love
little bit more from her which I'd love to and then I'll pass that on obviously
