Published historical context

JT Racing “Bad Bones” Pants

These original JT Racing “Bad Bones” pants represent one of the most recognizable pieces of riding apparel from the aggressive action-sports aesthetic of the early 1990s.

Originally developed for motocross racing, the pants feature JT Racing’s iconic skeletal bone graphic, which quickly became a popular visual style among BMX racers and freestyle riders. The bold design and durable construction made the pants particularly appealing to riders seeking both protection and a distinctive look on the track.

Constructed from heavy-duty nylon materials with reinforced panels, JT riding gear was designed to withstand the demands of high-speed motocross competition. BMX riders adopted many of these garments because of their durability and their close connection to motocross culture, which heavily influenced the visual style and equipment of BMX racing.

The “Bad Bones” design remains one of the most recognizable graphics in action sports apparel and reflects the aggressive visual identity that defined the era.
