Set in the sunny suburbs of Sydney, Australia, the story follows two BMX-obsessed teenagers, P.J. (Angelo D’Angelo) and Goose (James Lugton), who befriend a girl named Judy (Nicole Kidman) after she is unfairly fired from her job as a trolley collector. While searching for cockles in Sydney Harbour to earn money for bike repairs, the trio stumbles upon a box of high-tech, police-band walkie-talkies.
Unbeknownst to the teens, the radios were stolen by a gang of professional bank robbers who intend to use them to eavesdrop on police communications during a massive $1.5 million payroll heist. After the trio sells the walkie-talkies to local kids for quick cash, the bumbling criminals—led by the dim-witted henchmen Whitey and Moustache—launch a relentless pursuit to get them back. The film culminates in a high-octane series of chases as the “Bandits” use their BMX skills to outmaneuver the gang through shopping malls, cemeteries, and even a water park.
Yes, that is Nicole Kidman…
