Canonical page transcription

The Canadian BMX Hall of Fame is a preservation-focused organization dedicated to honoring the riders, builders, organizers, and volunteers who helped shape BMX culture throughout Canada. Founded in 2023 by longtime BMX contributor and Olympic commentator Kevin O’Brien, the project was created to help preserve nearly five decades of Canadian BMX history through formal recognition, archival efforts, and community storytelling.

The Hall of Fame held its inaugural induction ceremony on August 3, 2024, in Langley, British Columbia during the BMX Canada Borderline Nationals weekend. The first induction class focused on the formative years of Canadian BMX, recognizing pioneers who helped establish the sport during the late 1970s and 1980s.

In 2025, the organization expanded with a second ceremony honoring additional contributors, including freestyle BMX icon Jay Miron for his influence on international competition, trick progression, and the founding of MacNeil Bikes.

Operating through a formal nomination and selection process, the Hall of Fame recognizes contributors across racing, freestyle, and sport-building categories. In addition to induction ceremonies, the organization supports historical preservation through retro bike displays, memorabilia exhibits, and archival projects tied to Canadian BMX culture.

Currently operating as a traveling historical initiative rather than a permanent museum, the Canadian BMX Hall of Fame continues working to preserve the stories, achievements, and grassroots foundations of BMX in Canada.
