BMX HISTORY QUIZ:
1983
A TWO PAGE ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN IN BMXA CALLING A TRICK THE __________ BUT IT BECAME “THE LEARY.”
____________________ “PROCEEDED TO DESTROY THE AMATEUR CLASSES” BUT DIDN’T TURN PRO THIS YEAR.
____________ WAITED UNTIL THE LAST RACE OF ’83 TO TURN PRO.
T/F - GREG HILL WON HIS FIRST NORA CUP WHILE RIDING FOR HUTCH, THEN LAUNCHED GREG HILL PRODUCTS (GHP) IN OCTOBER ’83, AND BECAME A DAD IN DECEMBER.
$________ WAS UP FOR GRABS IN THE ESPN SERIES.
________________ BROKE HIS WRIST AT THE ESPN FINALS BUT STILL RACED WITH IT.
THE ________ TEN CAME OUT.
Greg Hill’s first NORA Cup, the GHP launch, and his becoming a father are all described in the article. The false element is the claim that he was riding for Hutch; the source says he was riding for GT.
The source records Judge, Leary, Medrano, and Utterback as competing names. BMXA’s two-page instructional spread called it a Judge, while the article ultimately credits Harry Leary through earlier photographic evidence.
The first six races offered $5,000 each. The seventh and final race offered $15,000.
