Lititz BMX Book Club Series - Day One: Remembering why you came here in the first place

Chapter 1: The Beginning
Ok BMX Book Club Members (I just made that up so now it is official I guess - join us)
I am starting off with a couple of critiques
1. No Table of Contents - If you know my background, you will know this drives me mad! I got over it quick.
2. In no way did the picture on the cover prepare me for how well written it actually is and how quickly it engulfs your senses through memory and a vicarious point of view. Bastard
3. There was something else but it is escaping me right now…
That is over:
“You know how kids are, they really don’t need to know what they are bragging about as long as other kids didn’t know anything that could contradict their story.”
There are a lot of good lines in this chapter but this one stood out to me to start. I remember being that kid - on both sides.
What I truly enjoyed was the personal visuals I was able to play from my past while reading about his. Granted… He starts his BMX journey the year I was born. I guess that means we have something in common. But, back to the review…
Oh yeah, and he knew some guy named “Hollywood”. I am not quite sure why someone’s acting career is in play but I will run with it for now. Apparently he was some kind of “professional” that Mike became friends with at the track - it was a long time ago.
That same guy that Mike used to call “Hollywood” called him “Hamma.”
Another concept that stood out to me was the stolen bike concept:
“The “stolen bikes” in life should not stop me from reaching my goals.”
