Chapter 6: Now What?

We get to see the author’s light bulb go on!

This is a short but powerful chapter for anyone who has ever found themselves just… ugh, with their job or situation. I understand the author’s stance tremendously. I was fairly successful in the Silicon Valley over a decade ago. My wife and I decided to uproot and move across the country. I was so burnt out that I took a job as a seasonal greeter at a hair salon. People were concerned but I couldn’t do it anymore, I was in a new environment, and quite frankly - I could afford it. Much like the author has shared in this story. Money shouldn’t be the driving factor - I have had it and I haven’t had it - I think that is pretty common.

A couple of memorable quotes I would like to share include:

“What would it take to make me happy?” - Does this question keep you up at night too?

“Was it even possible for me to be happy for a long period of time?” - Good question.

“I needed to understand this before I accept a new position and repeated this pattern. I started asking myself about each factor.” - Can you identify them?

“Holy moly, I am the problem.” - How often are we able to admit this?

“I figured it out. I now know the secret that I was searching for.” 

By the end of the chapter, the author claimed to know “this secret to happiness.”  - In his first day of _____, he was scared and happy - never forget Day One, what brought you here in the first place.
